All about desert in Malaysia

                               Desert@traditional desert of Malaysia

Kuih (also kuehkue, or kway; from Hokkien: 粿 koé) are bite-sized snack or dessert foods found in the Malay Archipelago as well as the Southern China provinces of Fujian and Canton. Kuih is a fairly broad term which may include items that would be called cakescookies, dumplingspuddingbiscuit, or pastries in English and are usually made from rice or glutinous rice.

Kuih lapis Batavia or spekkoek (layer cake) is a rich kuih consisting of thin alternating layers made of butter, eggs and sugar, piled on top of each other. Each layer is laid down and then grilled separately, making the creation of a kueh lapis an extremely laborious and time-consuming process.

Kuih karipap is a small pie consisting of specialised curry with chicken and potatoes in a deep-fried pastry shell. The curry is especially thick and rich to prevent itself from running.

Kuih apam is made up of soft and tender beef

Kuih cara berlauk is made up of flour, egg, coconut milk and turmeric. The mixture is mixed thoroughly before being cooked in a special mold until it hardens. Before it hardens, a filling made up either spiced beef or chicken is added. This kuih is very popular in the month of Ramadhan.

Pulut inti is glutinous rice topped with caramelised grated coconut flesh and wrapped in a cut banana leaf to resemble a square pyramid.

Celebrate Christmas in Malaysia

                                                   Christmas in Malaysia

Christmas in Malaysia is celebrated as anywhere else in the world. The celebration of the birth of Jesus is the time for hope and rejoicing, of love, giving and forgiving. Christmas in Malaysia is the time for family and friends gathering.

The view

However Christmas in Malaysia does not completely comply with that of Christmas as celebrated in Europe. The temperature of Malaysia ranges from 22 to 33 degree centigrade.

Malaysian Christmas is more of a universal celebration with a more secular aspect to it rather than of any religious significance. The image of Santa Claus is very appealing to the kids here is in anywhere in the world.

There are also candy canes and the all familiar Christmas tree. One can come across white, green red and also gold which are considered as traditional colors of the season.

Some churches, especially the catholic ones use wreaths to mark the weeks during the season of Advent. As the day approaches, people start decorating their homes, usually with artificial objects. People deliver greeting cards and gifts are placed under trees. Festive songs are played everywhere.
